A group of musicians from the DGS Alumnae Orchestra (or DOGA Orchestra) have come together to hold a concert, Family Concert for New Sight, to raise awareness of and support the charity work of New Sight Eye Care (“New Sight”), which was established in 2012 by our alumna, Dr. Joyce Samoutou-Wong, together with her husband, Henri Samoutou. As the joint recipients of the International Excellence in Opthalomology Vision Award, Joyce and Henri pioneered the first and only non-profit eye surgical centre in northern Congo to help patients who otherwise cannot have access to eye care.
This concert will take place at 3 - 4:30pm on 19 March 2017 (Sunday) at DGS. In addition to the DGS Alumnae Orchestra, it will also showcase a number of solo and ensemble performances by our distinguished alumnae, including Nicolette Wong and Dr. Julia Chen, as well as our guest ensemble group, DSOBA Strings. Joyce will be sharing with us her experiences in one of the world’s most impoverished, neglected and rural areas, and she will also share with us New Sight’s exciting visions for the next five years!
Please support their efforts and save the date! Audience of all ages are welcome. As a token of appreciation, donations above a certain amount will be entitled to acknowledgement in the programme. Kindly note that such donations must be made on or before 6 March 2017 (Mon), in order for the name to be incorporated into the programme.
