Community Services - UNICEF's 'Change for Good' Programme

For those of us who have travelled with Cathay Pacific, we may all be familiar with the “Change for Good” programme. In fact, we may have participated in it, by donating our unwanted small change from countries far and wide on our return journeys into envelopes passed on to us by Cathay Pacific staff. The change collected is donated to fund UNICEF’s programmes helping underprivileged women and children in more than 150 developing countries around the world.

On 22 and 29 October, 2015, we were very lucky to have secured two sessions of voluntary service for DOGA members at the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF's office, allowing us a glimpse of the 'behind the scene' logistics after the collection.

For 3 hours in the afternoon, our party of 7 volunteers worked their way sorting out coins and notes into countries, denominations and stacking them into their respective bags. This service provided a wonderful opportunity for us to play our part in serving those in need, in addition, it was also a very good social opportunity for alumni to get to know one another, rekindling their times at DGS.
