Much appreciation
goes to our Organizing Committee for making perfect arrangment
so that we all can enjoy an evening of fine dining and good
company.
The
DOGA Ltd. 2004 Annual Dinner was held on 3rd November, 2004
at the Grand Ballroom, Conrad Hotel, Hong Kong. 265 ladies,
spreading across some 60 years ( from class of 1938 to class
of 1999 ), attended this special event.
With the
assistance of the Membership Subcommittee, a reception table
was set up at the foyer to welcome all attendees. Each attendee,
once registered, was given a color ribbon to identify the house
which she belonged to at DGS. A souvenir stall was also set
up at the foyer this year to sell DOGA tote bags, DOGA umbrellas,
DGS dolls, DGS bath towels and 'Quest' magazines.
After the
MCs, Ms. Alice Chan and Ms. Helen Yien, went on stage to welcome
everyone, Mrs. Christina Chiang ( DGS Music Teacher and Choir
Conductress ) and the Diocesan Graduate Singers led everyone
sing the School Hymn, which was beautifully sung with the DGS
spirit. This was followed by brief opening remarks made by Mrs.
Sheilah Chatjaval, Vice-President of DOGA Ltd. Mrs. Loretta
Pang, Vice-President of DOGA Ltd. presented the 2004 Dr. C.J.
Symons scholarship to Miss Michelle Rocha. Mrs. Stella Lau,
Headmistress of DGS, made a short speech and reminded us that
DGS will be celebrating its 145th anniversary in 2005.
Class 1969
had a total attendance of 25 girls and won the Year with the
Best Turnout. As for the Millennium Cup, it was won by Skipton,
the house with the best turnout for the 2004 Annual Dinner.
Unlike last
year, western meal was served. As usual, everyone was excited
and happy to collect the great table prizes placed their tables.
Whilst some
people were busy catching up or enjoying the dinner, ladies
of different years went on stage to have their class photos
taken. After dessert was served, lucky draw began. Various grand
prizes including designer furniture, 3 G mobile phones, digital
cameras and jewellery were given out to the lucky winners.
For the
first time, games were introduced in the middle of the lucky
draw. Ms. Angela Lau and Ms. Joyce Lo asked a total of 16 lucky
draw winners to compete in two games called "Who can stack
the tallest pile of mahjong tiles?" and "Who can drink
the fastest?".
Overall,
the event was a great success. Many thanks to the following
people for kind support and hard work:
- members
of the General Committee and the Annual Dinner Subcommittee
for organizing the event and helping solicit gifts for lucky
draw prizes and table prizes;
- members
of the Membership Subcommittee for helping at the reception
table and for recruitment of new members for DOGA Ltd.; and
- all class
representatives for organizing their respective ex-classmates
to attend the event.
Finally,
special thanks to everyone who attended the Annual Dinner.
We look
forward to seeing you all again next year!
