DGS 140th Anniversary Celebration Events

Rededication cum Switching-On Ceremony, Tuesday, January 25, 2000

The Speech Day and Prize Giving Ceremony this year was preceded by a special Rededication cum Switching-On Ceremony to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the School. The Rededication Ceremony took place at 4:15 pm, and the Prize Giving Ceremony was followed at 5:30 pm. The Honourable Anson Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, addressed the School and presented the awards and certificates. School Concerts Featuring the Musical "Wizard of Oz" and Other Performances, Wednesday, July 5, 2000, Thursday, July 6, 2000, and Friday, July 7, 2000

The School in co-operation with the School Council, DOGA and PTA organized three special end-of-term fundraising Concerts featuring the musical "The Wizard of Oz" and other performances by Old Girls and current students. The three Concerts were held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2000, Thursday, July 6, 2000 and Friday, July 7, 2000, respectively, at the Shatin Town Hall.  The performances received excellent reviews and were sold-out well in advance.  The DOGA would like to thank all those who helped in the production as well as those who attended the Concerts for their kind support.

DOGA Homecoming Carnival - Saturday, December 1
6, 2000, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. 

Over 5,000 old girls, students and friends attended a special carnival on the school campus that was jointly organized by DOGA and the school.  The theme of the Carnival was 'REUNITE, RECOLLECT, and RELIVE our days of "Quest"'. It was a special day for all and featured game booths, campus tours, performances by the Diocesan Graduate Singers and the DGJS Percussion Band, sports competitions, and many, many more. iocesan Graduate Singers - established to celebrate 140th Anniversary of DGS

The Diocesan Graduate Singers is the first-ever choir to be formed from Old Girls of DGS under the leadership of  Mrs. Christina Chan Chiang and Mrs. Nancy Cheng Chu.  The inaugural performance of the Diocesan Graduate Singers took place at the DOGA Homecoming Carnival and another performance is planned for July 2001.  All Old Girls who are interested are welcome to participate.
